U.S. Open qualifier scheduled for Llanerch CC
Qualifying for the 2003 U.S. Open Championship will be held at Llanerch Country Club in Havertown, Pa., on May 8. It is one of approximately 100 18-hole local qualifiers for the U.S. Open Championship that will be played from June 12-15 at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill.
A field of 88 players will compete for six qualifying spots and four alternate positions. Tee times run from 7:50 a.m.-12:40 p.m.
Eighteen-hole local qualifiers will be held nationwide from May 7-19, with the top finishers advancing to sectional qualifying at 13 sites from June 2-3. Approximately 90 total spots will be awarded to fill the championship field of 156 players.
Entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4.
The championship format will be four rounds of stroke play.
The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.
