Little Mill CC’s Al Kelly takes Chapman MemorialComplete gross resultsComplete net results MARLTON, N.J. – Making full use of a home court advantage, Al Kelly fired a net 6-under-par 66 to win the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s 66th Chapman Memorial Cup Wednesday at Little Mill CC (6,472 yards, par 72). Kelly, playing on his home course, shot a gross 39-36—75, with a 9 handicap, to best 200 golfers in net competition in Senior (55 and older) and Super Senior (65 and older) divisions. Raymond Fuller of Running Dear GC placed second, carding a 35-38—73, with a 4 handicap, for a net 69. Louis J. Pace of Medford Village CC was third, posting a 39-36—75, with a 5 handicap, for a net 70. The tournament is named for Frank H. Chapman, late, long-time GAP secretary-treasurer. Ray Rose of Links GC took the Super Senior net prize, shooting a 43-41—84, with a 16 handicap, for a net 68. Harris Margolis of Green Valley CC was second, carding a 44-47—91, with a 22 handicap, for a net 69. Super Seniors, playing shorter tees (5,902 yards, par 72), were not eligible for overall Chapman Cup prizes David Brookreson of Huntingdon Valley CC easily took low gross honors with a solid, 3-under-par 34-35—69. Three players – Pace, Kelly and O. Gordon Brewer, Jr. of Pine Valley GC, were second low gross with 75s. Brookreson played flawlessly, hitting every fairway and 17 greens, carding three birdies and an eagle when he hit a driver and a 3-wood "to two inches" on the 494-yard, par 4 10th hole. "I made the putt," he grinned. "I just hit it solid all day and only three putted once," he said. Robert Proto of Little Mill took low gross honors in the Super Senior division with a 39-37—76 in a match of cards with James R. Sherratt of Old York CC (36-40—76).
