Each match is worth one point. A possible 18 points are available. In the case of a tie (9-9), the defending association retains the trophy.

Brookreson has played in 13 Mason-Dixon Matches. This will be his first as a senior representative.

"It’s a lot of fun because it gives you a chance to compete against guys of equal caliber from down South and measure your game," said Gillespie, 30, of Chesterbrook, Pa. "It’s also an honor because it’s an indication you played well throughout the year or at least at some point in the season."

Said Maude, 22, of Wayne, Pa., the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s William Hyndman, III Player of the Year, "I actually really didn’t know about the Mason-Dixon Matches until the beginning of the summer because I’ve never played in full summer schedule before. To be picked and represent the Golf Association of Philadelphia is a huge honor."

Last year, the Golf Association of Philadelphia fell 10-8 at the Chevy Chase Club in Chevy Chase, Md. Next year, the Middle Atlantic Golf Association will host the Mason-Dixon Matches. A site is yet to be determined.
