  Victor Mauck, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 3 at Sedgewood Commons following complications from alzheimers disease.

  Victor was born August 20, 1927 in Philadelphia, son of Ethel and Victor Mauck, Sr. He attended The Haverford School, Princeton University and the Wharton School of Business. He worked for his father’s businesses, the John Wood Company and the Norristown Asbestos and Paper Company. He then was owner operator of WNAR radio and the Norristown Box Company. He later served as director of the Montgomery Hospital Foundation.

  Victor served on many boards including the Haverford School for 18 years, 12 years as President, St. Davids Golf Club for 25 years, 24 years as President, the National Club Association, the Union League of Philadelphia, Montgomery Hospital, and the Philadelphia Golf Association. Victor had a knack for putting organizations in order in a gentle but no nonsense way.

  While at Haverford, Victor excelled in athletics, he was captain of the basketball and baseball teams and lettered in football and track as well. He was inducted into the Haverford School Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all his Philadelphia teams and the pro golfing tours. He was in attendance when the Flyers won the Stanley Cup in 1974.

  He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Mauck and his sister, Patricia Crookes. He is survived by his daughter, Toni Mauck Butterfield and her husband Mark Butterfield of Falmouth, Maine and two granddaughters, Allie and Hannah Butterfield.

  A celebration of Victor’s life will be held at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 22 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in Congregational Hall.
