Golf Association of Philadelphia announces sponsorship of weekly golf show segment on Sports Talk 950

The Golf Association of Philadelphia is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Mike Rose Golf Show, a locally broadcast radio program highlighting the week’s happenings in the world of golf.

Beginning on March 18, WPEN Sports Talk 950 will air the Saturday show from 9-10 a.m. featuring a GAP-sponsored segment. The show is slated to run for 25 weeks. It can be heard on WPEN 950 or live online at www.gapgolf.org; www.sportstalk950.com and www.rosefactor.com.

"We are extremely excited to be a part of this show," said Mark Peterson, Executive Director of the Golf Association of Philadelphia. "With today’s popularity of sports talk radio, having a weekly radio segment gives us yet another avenue to promote the game of golf in our area."

The Mike Rose Golf Show was last heard in 1999 on radio station 860 WWDB. The program started in 1989 on sports radio 610 WIP and ran without interruption through 1997 on three stations. Rose is currently the analyst on Inside Golf and editor and publisher of the Delaware Valley Golfer’s Guide. He served as the golf reporter for Comcast CN8 from 2001-2005 and also is well known from hosting Philadelphia Golf Week in the late 90s on SportsChannel Philadelphia.

Rose, a longtime Golf Association of Philadelphia figure, has enjoyed considerable success on the links. He is a multiple time Tournament of Champions winner and in 2003 earned the Senior Player of the Year. Last year, he captured the senior Chapman Cup Gross Division title. His extensive experience participating in Golf Association of Philadelphia competitions gives him first-hand knowledge of the organization and its dealings.

"As a GAP player for over 40 years, GAP has always been part of my life," said Rose. "Golfers are starved for more news and info, both locally and nationally. I will try to provide that and make it interesting and entertaining."
