Continuing the PLAY Golf Program’s goal of expanding access to golf for underprivileged youth, 52 local children took part in the fourth annual golf tournament with Brendan Stancato of the Kids-on-the-Hill Program taking the boys division and Alexandra Machin of the First Tee of Philadelphia placing atop the girls division.

Mark Peterson, Executive Director of the Golf Association of Philadelphia, said he was proud of the fact the Association joined with KPMG for this event.

"We all had a wonderful time; kids parents, volunteers, staff, everyone," Peterson said. "For the GAP and KPMG, having fun and exposing Philadelphia’s youth to the game of golf is what this was all about."

"There are so many valuable lifelong lessons to learn from the game of golf," said Drew O’Neill of KPMG LLP Risk Advisory Services. "It was a rewarding experience working with the boys and girls participating in the PLAY Golf Championship."

KPMG, the international network of professional firms providing audit, tax and advisory services, provided 20 volunteers for the championship and donated $1,500 for tournament expenses and the purchase of new golf equipment for the programs.

KPMG's national community involvement program known as Involve, enables KPMG’s partners and employees to build a culture of corporate citizenship through community service. The PLAY Golf program allows KPMG to give back to the local community through golf.

Working with the United States Golf Association, the Philadelphia Local and Area Youth Golf Program was established six years ago with the goal of providing additional support for community efforts to bring young people to golf.
