U.S. Open qualifiers scheduled at Coatesville CC and GC at Glen Mills
First stage qualifying for the 2006 U.S. Open Championship will be held at Coatesville CC in Coatesville, Pa. on May 12 and the GC at Glen Mills in Glen Mills, Pa. on May 15. It is one of approximately 100 18-hole local qualifiers for the U.S. Open Championship that will be played from June 15-18 at Winged Foot GC in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Entries for the 2006 U.S. Open Championship must be received by the United States Golf Association by April 26. The cost is $125 to enter.
To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at 908-234-2300 or enter on-line at the USGA Web site at www.usga.org. Entrants must have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4. Entrants must select one of approximately 100 local qualifying sites and one of the 12 sectional qualifying sites.
Eighteen-hole local qualifiers will be held nationwide from May 10-22, with the top finishers advancing to sectional qualifying at 12 sites from June 5-6. Approximately 90 total spots will be awarded to fill the championship field of 156 players. The championship format will be four rounds of stroke play.
The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.
