The 27th U.S. Senior Open set for July 6-9 at Prairie Dunes Country Club
Entries for the 2006 U.S. Senior Open Championship, to be held at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan. on July 6-9, are now open to professional and amateur golfers who will reach their 50th birthday by July 6, 2006. Amateurs must have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 3.4 under the Men’s USGA Handicap System.
The United States Golf Association must receive entries for the Championship no later than 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on May 31. The cost is $150 to enter. To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at 908-234-2300 or enter on-line at the USGA Web site at www.usga.org.
Entrants must select one of the 42 sectional qualifying sites. Of which, an 18-hole sectional qualifier will be held on June 9 at Doylestown Country Club.
A field of 156 players comprised of place-winners in sectional qualifying rounds and those exempts from sectional qualifying will compete in the 72-hole championship. The championship format will be four rounds of stroke play.
