Golf Association of Philadelphia revamps Revision ScheduleThe Golf Association of Philadelphia has made significant changes to its 2007 Handicap Revision Schedule to assists its Member Clubs with their tournament calendar. In 2007, the Revision Effective Date will now be Wednesday, with a transmit-by day of Tuesday. In past years, Friday was the effective revision date with a transmit date of Thursday.
This change will also synchronize the revision schedules of the Golf Association of Philadelphia, the Delaware State Golf Association, the New Jersey State Golf Association and the Metropolitan Golf Association, therefore, allowing for a unified handicap for the individuals and Member Clubs whose tournaments might be effected by either or all of the aforementioned associations. “This is just another opportunity for the Golf Association of Philadelphia and our award winning Handicap Services Department to assist our Member Clubs and relieve some of the pressures placed on club staffs,” said Mark Peterson, the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Executive Director. “We continuously keep our Member Club’s best interest in mind and we hope this slight change will assist them in their tournament administration.” There are 14 revisions planned for 2007. This allows for more timely handicap updates throughout the season. Last year, there were 13 revisions. The revision change is just another step in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s continuous mission to increase its Member Club services. Last year, the GAP began offering Member Clubs the opportunity to have scoresheets and tournament material prepared by the organization’s Handicap Services Department, for a fee. Those services follow the addition of a Handicap Services Department staff member two years ago to expedite Member Club handicap issues. Four years ago, the Golf Association of Philadelphia implemented a Computer Assistance Program, which places new hardware and software in Member Clubs who utilize the GHIN System and the reportless option. Founded in 1897, the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP) is the oldest regional golf association in the United States and serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region. Its 133 Member Clubs and 60,000 individual members are spread across parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. The purpose of the Association is simple: To promote, protect and preserve the game of golf in the region. |
