GAP ends 2009 season with Annual Meeting at Manufacturers G&CC

  DRESHER, Pa.-The Golf Association of Philadelphia concluded its 113th season Wednesday at Manufacturers G&CC with its Annual Meeting.

  Richard P. Meehan, Jr., of Huntingdon Valley CC was reappointed President of the Association. This will be his second one-year term. J. Clark O’Donoghue of Riverton CC was reappointed as Vice-President; Christopher J. Terebesi of Chester Valley GC as Secretary and Frank E. Rutan, IV of Philadelphia Cricket Club as Treasurer.

  Three new members of the Executive Committee were appointed: Steven D. Lucas of Concord CC, Robert Morey of Merion GC and W. Garth Sprecher of Lancaster CC. They replace outgoing members Daniel Burton of Bent Creek CC, the Association’s Immediate Past President; Dr. Thomas Frazier of Gulph Mills GC and William Iredale of Merion GC.

  Bruce Parkinson of St. Davids GC received the 2009 Distinguished Service Award. Parkinson, who’s also a member of Moselem Springs GC, was a St. Davids GC board member for 12 years, a chairman of various committees, including golf and membership, and a past president.

  Parkinson has been a GAP volunteer for 40 years. He is also involved in civic organizations such as the Philadelphia Seniors Golf Association and the Philadelphia Rotary Club.

The Golf Association of Philadelphia Magazine will feature stories about the 2009 Players of the Year, the Distinguished Service Award recipient and the Volunteer of the Year, amongst other year-end accolades, in its next issue, which is set to be distributed the week of Nov. 16.
