A Walk Through Time

GAP is the oldest state or regional golf association in the country. It started courtesy of a friendly competition – the Team Matches – and has grown into the preeminent golf association in the country. Along the way, golf history has been made.


2009 Walker Cup Match ticket information

  FAR HILLS, N.J.–Fans wishing to reserve their place along the fairways of Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., for the 2009 Walker Cup Match (Sept. 11-13) may purchase tickets and find directions and parking information online at www.2009walkercup.org.

  First contested in 1922, the Walker Cup Match is a biennial team competition between 10 amateur golfers from the USA and from Great Britain and Ireland, in which 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate shot) matches are played over two days.

    4 Foursomes Matches  7:30 a.m.
    8 Singles Matches  1 p.m.

    Sunday, Sept. 13
    4 Foursomes Matches  7:30 a.m.
    10 Singles Matches  1 p.m.
    Closing Ceremony  5:30 p.m.

  The Season Trophy Club Ticket gives the holder access to the grounds on all three days, as well as access to the Trophy Club hospitality tent.

  Juniors ages 17 and under are admitted for free with a ticket-holding adult. Junior tickets will be available at Will Call.

  Starting on Sept. 11, tickets will be available for purchase on a walk-up basis beginning at 6 a.m. each day, at the Main Admission Gate at Merion.
