Annual Meeting at Chester Valley caps 2011 campaign

  MALVERN, Pa. — The Golf Association of Philadelphia officially closed the 2011 season with its 115th Annual Meeting Wednesday at Chester Valley GC. The lunch and golf portion of the event was cancelled due to inclement weather. Below is a list of highlights:

    â€¢ The Executive Committee appointed four new officers: Frank E. Rutan, IV of Philadelphia Cricket Club (President), Robert M. Morey of Merion GC (Vice President), Michael J. Higgins of Aronimink GC (Treasurer) and Jeffrey S. Henderson of Gulph Mills GC (General Counsel). Christopher J. Terebesi of Honeybrook GC was reappointed Secretary.

    â€¢ Three new Executive Committee members were approved: John R. Choyka of Indian Valley CC, Carl J. Greco of the Country Club of Scranton and William Higgins of St. Davids GC. They replace outgoing members J. Clark O’Donoghue of Riverton CC, Andy M. Karff of Philmont CC and Richard P. Meehan, Jr. of Huntingdon Valley CC.

    â€¢ John MacDonald received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award. MacDonald is the Executive Director of The First Tee of Philadelphia, an organization that aims to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

  The Golf Association of Philadelphia Magazine will highlight each of the aforementioned items in its next issue, which is set to be distributed late November.
