GAP, WGAP Parent/Child League open to more familiesThe GAP Parent/Child League is now open for more families to participate.A joint effort created by the Golf Association of Philadelphia and the Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia last summer, the organizations have voted to expand its reach and allow Associate Club Individual Members with a valid GAP/USGA handicap to participate. Previously, only Parents of full Golf Association of Philadelphia Member Clubs with a valid GAP/USGA handicap were eligible.
The Parent/Child League gives parents and youngsters more opportunities to stay connected through the golf course. The cost is $55 per team and includes a 9-hole cart fee for both players and a 9-hole entry fee for the parent. Children play for free. The format is a modified chapman. Both players tee off and then switch balls. The parent plays the child’s drive, and vice-versa. Each player hits his or her second shot. They then select the better of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed, they play only one ball in an alternate shot format. Food and beverage will be available after the round. For more information, contact the Golf Association of Philadelphia at 610-687-2340.
