CBS 3's Reece speaks at Platt Caddie Scholarship's Annual BrunchCBS 3 lead sports anchor and former NFL player Beasley Reece served as the keynote speaker during the Platt Caddie Scholarship’s Annual Brunch Dec. 17. More than 185 guests, including Caddie-Scholars, J. Wood Platt contributors and Board of Trustee members, gathered at Huntingdon Valley Country Club. Reece, a three-time Emmy winner, emphasized the importance of hard-work and encouraged those in attendance to strive for the best daily. Now in his 26th year as a sports broadcaster, Reece addressed the Trust’s overall body of work and thanked those who continue to support its’ mission.
The Trust also named Trent Miller of Lancaster CC its 2011 Francis C. Poore Caddie of the Year Award recipient during the brunch. Miller, of Lancaster, Pa., will graduate from Millersville University in the spring. He addressed the Trust’s impact on his life and thanked contributors for their ongoing support. Started in 1995, the Trust’s Annual Brunch provides Caddie-Scholars with an opportunity to meet board members of both the Trust and Golf Association of Philadelphia as well as Lifetime contributors and officers of GAP Member Clubs. Since its inception in 1958, the Platt Caddie Scholarship has awarded more than $14.3 million in grants to more than 3,200 young men and women.
