Team GAP gears up for Williamson Cup at Columbia CCThe Golf Association of Philadelphia will compete in the Williamson Cup Aug. 7-8 at Columbia CC in Bethesda, Md. Representing the GAP team this year are Kevin Conners, Jr. of Whitford CC, Brandon Matthews of Fox Hill CC, Ryan Siegler of Mercer Oaks GC and T.J. Summers of Commonwealth National GC. The Williamson Cup is regarded as one of the most prominent junior events in the country. It is a 36-hole, stroke play tournament that features competition among four-man teams from 11 state and regional golf associations.
Age: 14 Club: Whitford CC 2011 Accomplishments: Qualified for match play in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s 97th Junior Boys’ Championship at Running Deer GC … Finished fourth in the Jock MacKenzie Memorial at Sandy Run CC … Finished tied for sixth in the Harry Hammond Award Standings … Currently ranked ninth in the Junior Player of the Year Standings.
Age: 17 Club: Fox Hill CC 2011 Accomplishments: Won the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s 97th Junior Boys’ Championship at Running Deer GC … Currently ranked sixth in the Junior Player of the Year Standings.
Age: 17 Club: Mercer Oaks GC 2011 Accomplishments: Carded rounds of 74 and 73 to capture the Christman Cup at Bidermann GC … Teamed with clubmate Charles Cai to finish fifth in the Francis X. Hussey Memorial at Rolling Green GC … Currently ranked No. 10 in the Junior Player of the Year Standings.
