Juniors compete in PLAY Golf Championship at McCall
The Golf Association of Philadelphia administered the PLAY Golf Championship June 18 McCall Golf & Country Club.
Participants enjoyed a day of friendly competition among fellow newcomers to the game. The event marked an opportunity for boys and girls ages 9-18 to play golf in a tournament environment.
Launched in 2000, the PLAY Golf program’s purpose is to assist community efforts in expanding access to golf for urban youth. Fundraising programs are being developed to make the program self-supporting and to provide additional support for community efforts to bring young people to golf.
Founded in 1897, the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP) is the oldest regional golf association in the United States and serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region. Its 145 Member Clubs and 57,000 individual members are spread across parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. As Philadelphia’s Most Trusted Source of Golf Information, the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s mission is to promote, preserve and protect the game of golf.
