Doylestown caddie thinks golf for Eagle Scout projectKevin Whalen, a caddie at Doylestown Country Club, takes the eagle in Eagle Scout project literally. He plans to refurbish the golf amenity featured at Central Park in Doylestown, Pa. The project includes adding and re-grading an existing bunker, adding a brick path to the main path, painting two picnic tables and posting a yardage sign. “I wanted to do something different than other scouts in my troop had done before,” Whalen, 17, of Chalfont, Pa., said. “I used the hole this summer for hitting balls and noticed that it got a decent amount of use and would get more if it was in better shape.” Whalen, a junior at Central Bucks West, estimates that his project will cost $500-600. He is currently raising funds in hopes of getting started in April. Donations to Whalen’s project may be sent to 8 Kathryn Road, Chalfont, Pa. 18914. Checks may be made out to Troop 36. Donors may have their names engraved on the bricks designated for the new path.
