New in 2014: GAP Senior Club Team ChallengeThe Golf Association of Philadelphia announces its Senior Club Team Challenge — a three-week competition for players 55 years of age or older with a handicap index of 36.0 or less. The Senior Club Team Challenge, open to GAP Member Clubs, features teams of eight; format is singles match play (gross only). Matches will be scored as a Nassau with one point awarded for each of the nines. Participating clubs will host a pair of foursomes each on Saturdays in September. Those foursomes will be slotted in a four-team bracket, with the winners of each section competing for the Senior Club Team Challenge Playoff on Saturday, Sept. 20. Brackets will be regionalized. Entry forms have been delivered to head golf professionals and chairmen at GAP Member Clubs. They are limited to the first 16 teams that register with payment and are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Cost is $150 per team. Entries are currently open and will close on Monday, Feb. 3. Clubs may enter one team in the Senior Club Team Challenge. Matches will begin no later than 2 p.m. each Saturday.
