BMW named official automotive partner of Golf Association of Philadelphia
The Golf Association of Philadelphia is proud to announce BMW as the organization’s exclusive automotive partner. Starting in 2015, BMW of North America and the Delaware Valley BMW Centers will be the presenting partner of the BMW GAP Team Matches and the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship while also supporting the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Golf Association of Philadelphia and support the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust, “ said Dan Creed, Vice President of the BMW Eastern Region. “The Philadelphia region has a rich history in amateur golf and we are honored to be part of such a prestigious and passionate golf community.”
This partnership allows BMW to expand their involvement and support of leading caddie scholarship organizations. The BMW Championship, the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs, has raised over $19 million for the Evans Scholars Foundation since the tournament’s inception in 2007. The 2018 BMW Championship will be held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa.
BMW will endow a J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship, the recipient of which will be a Platt-Evans Scholar who attends Penn State University. Additionally, there will be a BMW J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholar spotlight in each edition of the Golf Association of Philadelphia Magazine to highlight the young men and women of the program.
BMW and GAP will also launch additional programming to GAP members throughout the year.
“The Golf Association of Philadelphia is extremely proud to partner with BMW. Beyond producing the ultimate driving machine, BMW has established a very strong presence in the golf world. We are thrilled to join the BMW golfing family with two of the most prestigious Amateur events– the BMW GAP Team Matches and the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship,” said Bob Morey, the GAP President. We look forward to working in concert with BMW in the days, weeks and years ahead on promoting, protecting and preserving this great game in the Philadelphia region.”
