Volunteers Day celebrates those who assisted in 2015
The Golf Association of Philadelphia conducted Volunteers Day on Oct. 14 at a pleasant Concord Country Club. The event serves as "thank you" to those who dedicated their time and effort to assisting the organization with course rating and tournament administration this year.
Participants enjoyed a day of lunch, golf, cocktails and dinner. During the event's evening portion, the Association recognized Jack Hoffman of Penn Oaks Golf Club as its Volunteer of the Year. Hoffman, 66, of Malvern, Pa., began volunteering in 1999, fulfilling the role of course rating team captain for the last 12 years. He and his team rated six courses (Galen Hall Golf Club, Galloway National Golf Club, Hickory Valley Golf Club — Presidential Course, The Club at Morgan Hill, Pilgrim’s Oak Golf Course and Whitford Country Club) in 2015.
A full-length story on Hoffman will appear in the winter edition of the Golf Association of Philadelphia Magazine.
