Association launches 1 MORE Campaign

The Golf Association of Philadelphia launches its 1 MORE campaign, which encourages golfers throughout the Delaware Valley to further engage with their club or facility.

The 1 MORE campaign promotes the act of going the extra mile to support the game. That’s one more round played, one more meal at your club, one more lesson with your teaching professional, one more venture with a caddie in tow or introducing one more golfer into the sport.

Individual Members need to opt-in to the program.

“I’m always preaching the idea of ‘one more,’” GAP President Bob Morey said. “Our clubs and facilities provide us with the means necessary to enjoy the game of golf. We, in return, should make a concerted effort to give one more bit of our time to them, whether that’s through one more round a month or one more dinner with family and friends. Keep ‘one more’ in mind this year and beyond.”

As part of its 1 MORE campaign, the Association will offer monthly drawings for those who play at least one more round. Prizes include GAP apparel, tickets to Major championships coming to the area in 2016, a two-hour session on the TrackMan Swing and Ball Flight Analysis system and more. Winners will be announced via the Association’s eRevision and Web site, www.gapgolf.org. A grand prize, to be announced, will be awarded on Nov. 1. Individuals will need to opt-in to the 1 MORE campaign to be eligible for prizes.

The 1 MORE campaign runs from April 1 to Oct. 31 — the Association’s active handicap system season. Participants can track their monthly progress through My GAP Locker to see where they stand compared to 2015 for each month.

All GAP members are eligible to participate in the 1 MORE campaign via My GAP Locker. Those who register during the month of April will be automatically entered into campaign’s first drawing. Participants who meet their one more round benchmark will be entered into subsequent drawings, which will take place on the first of each month.

The 1 MORE campaign echoes a “Plus One” call-to-action issued by new USGA President Diana Murphy. During her Annual Meeting address in February, Murphy urged the golf community to introduce someone new to golf in 2016, to be a “plus one” in helping to promote and conserve the true spirt of the game.

“The USGA actively supports efforts that encourage greater participation in the game,” Murphy said. “The Golf Association of Philadelphia’s 1 MORE campaign is an exciting extension of the work that the state and regional golf associations are doing at the local level to engage golfers and facilities.”
