Association names Latos Manager of GHIN Technical SupportSteve Latos joins the Golf Association of Philadelphia as Manager of GHIN Technical Support. In this newly-created role, Latos will serve as the organization’s first point of contact and support for all questions related to the GHIN Handicap platform and all related software packages. “We are excited to welcome Steve to the GAP family and are confident that he will uphold the high quality of service our GAP Member Clubs have enjoyed for years,” Executive Director Mark Peterson said. “Steve is a bright and technology-driven individual who will complement our current staff.” “Based on what I’ve heard through colleagues in the industry, the Golf Association of Philadelphia conducts itself in a highly professional manner and has a tremendous collection of clubs that it services. I’m excited to help what is already a strong Association,” Latos, 26, an Arlington Heights, Ill. native, said. “Specifically with the role that I’m coming into, I think my skillset and experience with the handicap system and my passion for the game of golf will make me a good fit.” Latos graduated from Xavier University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He then worked as a graduate assistant golf coach at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where Latos earned a master’s degree in business leadership. He previously served as a PJ Boatwright Intern with the Northern California Golf Association. “We went through a two-month period where we went on a big membership drive and had daily goals. We blew our initial goals out of the water,” Latos said. “As an intern, it was good to be exposed to all areas of the Association to see how it works together to service our customers, whether it was the member, the course or a third party.” “Steve’s customer relationship work with the NCGA was very attractive as we looked to fill this position,” Mario Machi, GAP Director of Member Services, added. “Between that and his tech savvy background, we feel confident that he is the right person to be the front line of GHIN support for our membership.” In addition to providing customer and technical support, Latos will train Member Clubs on all aspects of the USGA Handicap System and GHIN platform. He will also administer the organization’s Computer Assistance Program (CAP), which involves delivering and installing new computers at clubs on a regular basis. Latos resides in Manayunk, Pa. He can be reached at 610-687-2340 or via e-mail at slatos@gapgolf.org.
