#BMWPhillyAm registration opens; Philadelphia Cricket to hostOne of the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s founding Member Club hosts one of its most iconic events June 13-15 & 17.
Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wissahickon) welcomes the 117th BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship, with the club’s Militia Hill Course serving as a stroke-play qualifying site. Registration for the highly-anticipated affair opens today. The Association will conduct three qualifying events.
Philadelphia Cricket’s hosted the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship on 10 occasions, most recently in 2004. Scott Ehrlich defeated Michael Tash, 5&4, in the Final — contested on the Militia Hill Course that year. GAP Hall of Famers O. Gordon Brewer, Jr., Howard Everitt, Albert H. Smith and Harold B. McFarland all won titles at Philadelphia Cricket. The BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship is the Association’s premier event. Participants must first advance through a one day, 36-hole stroke-play qualifier to gain one of 32 available match play positions. Those who qualify for match play must advance through four matches in two days to reach the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Final, which is typically held on the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend. The winner receives the J. Wood Platt Trophy; its namesake holds a record-seven BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship titles.
