Volunteer Training Days aim to educate expanding baseAs part of its tournament season preparation, the Golf Association of Philadelphia will conduct a series of Volunteer Training Days.
The Volunteer Training Day schedule is as follows: registration with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m.; training from 8:30 a.m. to noon; lunch from noon to 1 p.m. In addition, a GAP/AGA Volunteer Training Seminar will take place on Saturday, March 30 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Elmhurst Country Club. Volunteers in the Northeastern Pennsylvania region are needed to fulfill the roles of starting official (greets players, provides local rules for the day, starts groups at designated tee times); checkpoint official (collects and posts scores via handheld tablets, monitors pace of play) and rules official (ensures the event is fairly contested under the Rules of Golf and offers counsel to players in need of a procedural ruling).
