Winter Series registration opens; five events on slateFound in February: competition (Super Bowl), love (Valentine’s Day) and awards (Grammys, Oscars). Golfers who love competition — not to mention prize bonuses — will find it in the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Winter Series.
Fitting that registration for the spring slate opens Feb. 1. Below is the complete schedule:
“I think it’s great that our final Winter Series event of the spring falls on the day before The Masters begins. It will be nice to crown our Players of the Year on Wednesday and then watch the best players in the world compete at Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday,” Chris Roselle, GAP Tournament Director, said. Cost is $40 per person per event, plus a $35 cart fee per event. Moreover, cost for the better-ball event at Bluestone Country Club is $80 per team, plus a $35 per person cart fee. Entrants are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Winter Series features a Players of the Year competition that includes six categories: Amateur Gross, Senior Gross, Amateur Net, Senior Net, Women’s Gross and Women’s Net. A trio of former winners leads its respective categories: Little Mill Country Club’s David Waxman (Amateur Gross, 2016-17); Philadelphia Publinks GA’s Michael Quinn (Senior Gross, 2015-16) and Radley Run Country Club’s Greg Smith (Amateur Net, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18). Flourtown Country Club’s William Choy stands atop the Senior Net POY standings with 510 points. Fellow Flourtown member Alison Kellock heads both the Women’s Gross and Women’s Net categories. The Winter Series is open to all Golf Association of Philadelphia Amateur Members 18 years of age or older, Philadelphia Section of PGA Members and golf professionals at Member Clubs.
