A Walk Through Time

GAP is the oldest state or regional golf association in the country. It started courtesy of a friendly competition – the Team Matches – and has grown into the preeminent golf association in the country. Along the way, golf history has been made.


2007 Senior Challenge Matches Player Roster

2007 Accomplishments: Had a Top-15 finish at the 2007 Mid-Am Championship at Stonewall (par 70, 6,675 yards, North Course) after carding a two-round total of 149… Registered a 7-over-par 77 to finish in the top 15 at the Chapman Memorial Cup (Gross) at Overbrook GC (par 70, 6,497 yards)… Finished tied for fourth place after carding a 2-under-par 66 with partner Terry Sawyer of Yardley CC at the 48th Senior Four-Ball Stroke Play at Bala GC (par 68, 5,322 yards)… After qualifying in second place with a 2-over-par 72 at Burlington CC (par 70, 6,611 yards), the local qualifier for the USGA Senior Amateur Championship, Bartolacci advanced to the second round of match play of the USGA Senior Amateur Championship at Flint Hills National GC in Andover, Kan.

2007 Accomplishments: Became the first player to sweep all three GAP Senior Major tournaments in the same year… Defeated Charles "Buck" Jones in a six-hole, sudden-death playoff to take the Francis B. Warner Cup (Gross) at Bent Creek CC (par 71, 6,461 yards)... Won the Chapman Memorial Cup (Gross) with a 2-under-par 68 at his home track, Overbrook GC (par 70, 6,497 yards)… Overcame a late double-bogey and a resilient Ed Chylinski of Chester Valley GC to take the 37th Senior Amateur Championship at Waynesborough CC (par 71, 6,625 yards) with a two-round score of 141 (70-71)… Those three victories also earned Thompson the 2007 Senior Silver Cross Award as well as Senior Player of the Year honors.
