The time has come for excitement and expansion to collide when the BMW GAP Team Matches return for its highly-anticipated 119th edition.

As the Golf Association of Philadelphia continues its expansion, so does the BMW GAP Team Matches field. A total of 347 teams – up from 332 last year – will compete this go around. Member Clubs joining the competition in 2019 are:
Philadelphia Cricket 1 (72.5 points), the reigning champion and owner of four titles (2013, 2015, 2017-18) emerged victorious last year by knocking off Huntingdon Valley Country Club (58), Philadelphia Cricket 2 (46) and Llanerch Country Club (39.5) in the Playoff.
Old York Road Country Club and Running Deer Golf Club were both promoted to Division AA in result of winning their respective Challenges last May. Running Deer (33.5 points) defeated Merion Golf Club (20.5), while Old York Road (30.5) took down Saucon Valley Country Club (23.5).

Since 1897, the BMW GAP Team Matches has been contested annually, save World War II (1943-45) and the severe ice storm of 1994. It started with the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s four founding clubs — Belmont Golf Association (now Aronimink Golf Club), Merion Cricket Club, Philadelphia Country Club and Philadelphia Cricket Club — each fielding two teams with six players per side. First known as the Interclub Team Matches, the event changed its name to the Suburban League Matches in 1915 before adopting its current moniker in 1997. BMW is the presenting sponsor for the fifth consecutive year.
NOTE–The 2019 BMW GAP Team Matches will be played in accordance with the 2019 Rules of Golf. The Local Rule for the alternative to stroke-and-distance will NOT be used at any facility.
